C. Ronald Lovan, P.E.
President/CEO

Ron Lovan has been President/CEO of the Northern Kentucky Water District since 2001. He started his career with the Kentucky Water Pollution Control Commission after earning both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky. He has previously worked with the National Clay Pipe Institute and was in the consulting engineering business in Lexington, Kentucky. He also was Manager of a water/wastewater utility serving the City of Thornton, a large suburb of Denver, Colorado.

In a collaborative effort with the Board of Commissioners, a one-year transitional succession plan was implemented in July of 2021, when Ron announced he would retire on August 1, 2022.

Ron is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Kentucky and Colorado. He is a member of the National Society and the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Water Environment Federation, American Water Works Association, a Diplomate with the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and a Board Member of the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, and the Water Research Foundation. Ron also has served as a Kentucky Commissioner on the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), formerly serving as Chairman of ORSANCO. He has volunteered time with the YMCA, Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, United Way, The Point Arc, and the National Ski Patrol.

Ron resides in Union, KY with his wife, Susan, and they have two married sons that live in Denver, Colorado.
